Marathons in Belgium: Growing in Popularity

Belgium wasn’t always known as a top marathon destination. While we’ve had plenty of enthusiastic marathon runners, there were relatively few major races. In recent years, that’s changed: more and more organizers are hosting marathons, and the number of participants is skyrocketing.

In 2024, the marathons in Ghent and Antwerp were absolute highlights. The outlook for 2025 is equally promising. The biggest event? The European Marathon Championships between Brussels and Leuven. Regular runners like us can take part in the open race.
